🏙️ KOBE Guide: Mt. Rokko Observatory — The Vertical Rhythm between the Sea and the Sky

🌊 Overview: Where the Mountains Embrace the City

Located at the summit of Mt. Rokko, the Tenran Observatory offers a breathtaking view that captures the very essence of Kobe.
It is the perfect spot to see how the city is tightly tucked between the deep green mountains and the vast blue sea.
This landscape is the primary source of inspiration for the spatial design of our Kobe art project.

🔭 The Perspective of "Vertical Rhythm"

What strikes me most from this height is the "distance" and the "flow".
In Kobe, the forest feels close to the skyscrapers, and the scent of the tide reaches the slopes.
It isn't just a static landscape; it's a vertical rhythm—a quiet flow of life that moves from the peaks down to the harbor.

In the Kobe metaverse, I have translated this rhythm into the diorama's layout, ensuring that players feel "embraced" by both nature and the urban grid.

☁️ Atmosphere: Finding the "Architecture of Silence"

Standing at this observatory under a clear sky, as seen in the photo above, you can experience a profound sense of clarity.
This is where the "Architecture of Silence" truly begins.
By looking down from the green peaks, the city below looks like a collection of precious memories.

To preserve this feeling, I focus on "Ma" (intentional space) when designing the mountain trails in kodiad, allowing the player to feel the weight of the mountains and the openness of the sea simultaneously.

🚶 How to Enjoy Your Visit

• Daytime: Take in the expansive 3D scale of the city and the sea.
• Dusk: Stay for the "10-million-dollar night view," where the city lights begin to twinkle like fragments of memory.
• Reflection: Take a moment to sit and feel the "mountain scent" and the cool breeze that drifts down to the city.

📍 How to Visit (Access)

• From Sannomiya Station: Take the Kobe City Bus (Route 16) to "Rokko Cable Shita" station.
• Rokko Cable Car: Take the historic Art Deco-style cable car up the mountain. The observatory is right next to the top station.
