🚠 KOBE Guide: Sumaura Park — The Nostalgic Rhythm of the Hillside

🌊 Overview

Located on the western side of the city, Sumaura Park is a place where time feels like it has slowed down.
This park is famous for its "Carlator"—a rare, retro slope transport—and its iconic revolving observatory that looks out over the Osaka Bay and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.

🎢 The Shaking Rhythm of the Carlator

The "Carlator" is more than just transport; it is an experience of a bygone era.
Its unique, shaky movement and slow pace create a rhythm that is different from the modern city.
To me, this represents the "quiet moments" of Kobe—a nostalgic vibration that connects the mountain to the sky.

🔭 A Revolving Perspective

From the revolving observatory at the top, you can witness the perfect balance between the green hills and the shimmering sea.
As the floor slowly turns, the landscape of Kobe unfolds like a diorama, echoing the very essence of my project.

🎮 Connecting to "kodiad"

In KOBE Diorama Adventure (kodiad), the Suma Beach area is an essential part of the world.

Even though I don't reproduce these specific structures in the game, I have brought the "slow time" and the nostalgic rhythm I felt here into the Suma area of my diorama world.
This is part of my philosophy: building Kobe as a memory, not just a replica.
By understanding the atmosphere of this hillside, you can deeper appreciate the quiet soul of the game world.

🚶 How to Visit

To feel this nostalgic side of Kobe in person, here is how you can reach Sumaura Park:

  • By Train: Take the Sanyo Railway to Sumaura-koen Station. The ropeway entrance is located immediately outside the station.
  • The Journey: Take the ropeway, then transfer to the famous Carlator to reach the revolving observatory.
  • Tip: Visit on a clear day to see the white bridge (Akashi Kaikyo Bridge) contrasting with the blue sea.
